DHAKA:
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday is set to inaugurate 450 new
taxicabs to make the transport system easier in Dhaka and Chittagong.
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure in the inauguration ceremony of three day long ‘Ninth Dhaka Motor Show-2014’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre of the city.
Minister also said, “Some 250 cabs will start plying in Dhaka and some 150 cabs in Chittagong. Former army persons will drive those cabs; hence there will be no chance for corruption.”
Senior Awami League leader also said that they will consider about the rate of fare in the future.
He also hoped to initiate eco-friendly octane-run 1500cc taxicabs for the roads of Dhaka.
