4 cops among 6 hurt in Cox’s Bazar gunfight

MAHESHKHALI (COX'S BAZAR): Four policemen and two top terrorists were injured in a gunfight in Balur Deil area of Kalarmar Chhara under the upazila early Friday.
The injured are identified as Maheshkhali Thana Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam and three constables of the thana while the terrorists are Mohammad Helal, son of Chan Mian of Nonachhori and Sana Ullah.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Maheshkhali Thana Officer-In-Charge Alamgir Hossain said, “Police on Thursday arrested Helal, an accused in local Juba League leader Mujibullah Badal killing case.”
“Getting information from Helal, police drove operation in Chhaliyatali Baulr Deil area at 3:00pm Friday. Sensing presence of lawmen, the terrorists began firing targeting police, police retailed gunshots, leaving four cops injured,” he added.
He said: “The gang retreated and fled way, later police nabbed two terrorists those sustained bullet injuries on legs and recovered a home-made long gun, an Lightning Gun (LG), and six rounds of cartridges from the spot.”
The injured cops are undergoing treatment at Maheshkhali Hospital while the terrorists at Chittagong Medical College Hospital under police custody.
Helal is an accused of 10 different cases including killing and robbery and Sana is accused of 5 cases including 13 fishermen killing case.
